Princess Anne Hospitalized After Concussion
Princess Anne, the younger sister of King Charles III, was hospitalized on Sunday evening after suffering a concussion.
The Princess Royal, 73, was admitted to hospital with a minor head injury and concussion thought to be caused by a horse, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
Anne is expected to make a full recovery, the palace said. No further details about the incident were released.
Anne is a keen equestrian and has represented Great Britain in the sport at the Olympics. She is also a patron of the British Equestrian Federation.
The Princess Royal's hospitalization comes just days after her brother, King Charles III, was crowned in a historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Anne played a prominent role in the ceremony, carrying the Imperial State Crown on a cushion as she walked behind her brother.
The hospitalization of Princess Anne is a reminder of the risks involved in equestrian sports. Even experienced riders can suffer serious injuries, as Anne's case demonstrates.
