Hungary Striker Suffers Injury in Collision with Scotland Goalkeeper

Varga stretchered off the pitch after mid-air clash with Gordon

Hungary striker Barnabas Varga is stable in hospital after a sickening collision with Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon in their Euro 2024 match. The incident occurred in the 29th minute when Varga challenged Gordon for a high ball in the Scotland penalty area. The two players collided in mid-air, and Varga fell heavily to the ground.

Medical staff rushed onto the pitch to attend to Varga, who was stretchered off and taken to hospital. The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) later confirmed that Varga had suffered a head injury and was undergoing tests.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke said that he was "concerned" for Varga's welfare. "The most important thing is that the boy is okay," Clarke said. "I haven't spoken to him, but I'm sure he's in good hands."

The match was eventually won by Hungary in the last minute of the game, with Kevin Csoboth scoring the winning goal. The victory sends Hungary through to the knockout stages of Euro 2024, while Scotland are eliminated.
